Chef Shai-Ann Tyson is a Canadian Executive Chef and culinary competitor whose work celebrates the intersection of her Caribbean heritage and contemporary Canadian cuisine. Drawing inspiration from her Trinidadian and Venezuelan roots, she uses food as a form of storytelling, connecting culture, family, memory, and her experience as a second generation Canadian.

Shai-Ann has established herself as an emerging voice in Canada’s culinary industry. She finished in the Top 5 on Top Chef Canada, won the Garland Canada Culinary Competition, and is a member of the Bocuse d’Or Team Canada Research & Development team. Her competitive experience has helped shape a cooking style grounded in strong technique, creativity, and a distinctive sense of identity.

As an Executive Chef in Ontario, Shai-Ann is equally passionate about leadership and mentorship. She is committed to creating opportunities for young cooks and women in the culinary industry and believes that great chefs have a responsibility to share knowledge with the generation coming behind them.

Through competitions such as the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition, Shai-Ann hopes to represent a new generation of Canadian chefs while showcasing the Caribbean flavours and traditions that have shaped who she is.
