One of Manitoba Club’s proudest traditions is that of its snooker league and English billiards. Six, antique, regulation, snooker tables that are over 105 years old make-up the finest cue sports lounge in the Province of Manitoba, and arguably the country. From the century-old raised banquettes that adorn the south wall, the rich oak panelling, the private members-only cue storage room and the portraits of the club’s Past Presidents—this is Manitoba Club’s premier sporting lounge!
The club’s cue sports program is lead by our Snooker Professional who organizes the billiards leagues (including seasonal sweepstakes and the final awards dinner), provides instruction and offers private lessons to members. The club operates four separate leagues throughout the year.
The Singles Snooker League is very active and operates Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with fall and winter sessions for competitive and novice players.
The Doubles Snooker League operates Saturday mornings with fall and winter sessions for competitive and novice players. Complimentary continental breakfast is included.
Open Practice on Thursday evenings has our Snooker Professional on-site to recommend specific drills and provide casual instruction. Members may pick-up a game during this time.
The club’s rich cue sports history is currently lead by Donnie Chomiski. Donnie is a native Winnipegger who spent many years tending bar, playing snooker competitively and teaching at Toronto’s Centre of the Spherical Arts--at the time Toronto’s premier public snooker/billiards centre.
Donnie's cue sports credentials are impressive, including:
1989 Manitoba Snooker Champion
1993 Easter Canadian Snooker Champion
1993 and 2001 Ontario Championship Finalist
2006 Canadian Snooker Championship Semi-Finalist
Participated in 15 Canadian Snooker Championships.
Donnie represented Canada at:
2006 IBSF World Snooker Championship (Amman, Jordan)
2006 IBSF World Snooker Team Championships (San Jose, CA)
2007 IBSF World Snooker Championship (Korat, Thailand).
The Billiard’s Lounge offers an exceptional casual venue for networking with colleagues or celebrating special occasions and can be reserved for private, corporate and social events for 12 to 48 participants. The club’s Snooker Professional is on-site to help with tournament formation and rule enquiries on these occasions.
